Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Julian Nida-Rümelin, former Minister of culture.

The philosopher and author Julian Nida-Rümelin teaches at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, as an honorary professor at the Humboldt Universität Berlin and as a visiting professor at foreign universities.

Er ist Mitglied der Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Berlin  und der Europäischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, und Direktor am Bayerischen Institut für digitale Transformation. Er ist Vorstand der Parmenides Foundation,  Rektor der im Oktober 2022 gegründeten Humanistischen Hochschule Berlin und Mitglied des Kuratoriums des Jüdischen Zentrums München.

 

 

He was the Head of the departement of culture of Munich from 1998 to 2000 and subsequently served as State Minister for Culture and Media until the fall of 2002. In 2014, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Trieste; in 2016, the Bavarian state government awarded him the Europe Medal, and in 2019, the Bavarian Order of Merit. Since May 2020, he has been vice chairman of the German Ethics Council
